Sims 3 Late Night won't open after recent patch?

  • I was playing the Sims 3 Late Night (on a mac) earlier today. Everything was working perfectly fine. I saved and closed and went to open again later today and it said a new update was available. I went ahead and agreed to the update and it went through and installed. Now when I click on the Sims 3 file in my computer, the Sims 3 Late Night icon opens on the bottom of my mac but then quickly disappears and the game won't start. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

    OH MY GOD. I thought I was the only one. I was just about to play the Sims and then when I click on the Late Night icon on my dashboard...it won't open. I have a Mac as well. Let's hope they fix this problem! :(

sorry this isn't an answer but @ Paige ... that download thing is nearly 700 mb and its taking my computer about an hour and a half to download it ... that may be my internet but still just a heads up to the other people wanting to download it too

wow i have exactly the same problem! it's so annoying! it seems like all of the updates just bring about more problems than anything else...but i wouldn't reinstall it, i heard that never does anything. i think EA will be working on this soon if all mac users are having the same problem

I'm having the same issue and I tried the patch above (which did not work obviously) does anyone else have any other suggestions than buying Generations? I would rather not buy generations until I can get used to late night because I just bought that.

ARGH! I'm glad I'm not alone. I want to buy Generations but I also don't want to load it and nothing happens!

This is crazy, everyone who has a mac is having the same problem today. Its is because Sims 3 Generations came out today. Every single time a new game comes out and there is an update and you download it, this happens. No one knows why it happens just on macs, but it does! The best solution for this problem is to buy Sims 3 Generations and to download it. This is the only way that you can play again until a new update. Just happened to me today! Good luck Everyone!

From the SIMS 3 Forum: For those encountering the issue currently, when you click the icon for your latest installed product, the launcher never appears? You can try manually applying the Base Game patch which should hopefully resolve your issue.
