How would I make this costume?
-
I am thinking of what to go as for Anime Boston next year and my boyfriend thought up of the idea to go as the Dancer Nobody from Kingdom Hearts 2. I thought that it would be a really cute outfit - nice and simple. But once I looked up a picture - I was a little bit confused. http://mark.needlz.nl/portfolio/KH2_Nobo... I tried to look-up on cosplay websites of anyone else that has done that costume and all I found was this: http://www.cosplay.com/costume/76975/ I have no idea what type of material that is that has to be covering my entire body but it does seem simple enough. I just need some cosplay experts or at least a few good ideas. If I want to be the Dancer Nobody I would like to have an idea of what materials I would need. Oh, and if anyone can think of how to construct an outfit for my boyfriend would be great too. He wants to go as the Samurai Nobody and have us go as a couple. Here's a picture: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/kingdo... Thank you! =] All help is so desperately wanted and needed.

Answer:
That looks like some kind of stretchy shirt with the black design stitched onto it. You could make this by finding a fitted white top or even a white leotard and sewing or painting the black part on. The pants look like a white pair of gauchos. Honestly I would start looking for a leotard and a pair of white, flowy pants. Covering your face could be done with the leg from a pair of white tights or even face paint. The link to the bf costume Idea doesn't work for me, but from looking at drawings I found in a search, his costume is going to take some actual sewing. Since I don't know your sewing skill level, I would suggest taking the easy way out. Make the top of the outfit into a jacket instead of trying to construct a jumpsuit that fits. You can imitate the way the pants blouse out by making long tails on the front and back of the coat. By making a coat you'll have an easier time and can just buy your bf a pair of white pants or thick white tights for the bottom. You can find directions for making patterns off of existing garments you own online. This way you can just pattern the fitted part of the coat and alter the rest of the sections into the correct shape. Instead of buying a 15 dollar pattern set, you can hunt down directions for learning to make your own. This is the pic of the samurai I was looking at for reference: http://www.creativeuncut.com/gallery-02/kh2-nobody-samurai.html

It looks like jersey knit as in a T-shirt. I would make a pattern for the black trim and sew it onto a long sleeve knit pullover. Sorry, can't access the link for BF costume.
