Here are a couple of quick ideas: If you can sew a straight line… Buy some hand towels (Wal-Mart has some inexpensive ones) and decorate them with lace or trim to match her bathroom. Most towels have a ribbing going across the bottom ¼ of the towel. Place lace or trim on top, with the ends folded under on the top, stitch across. If it is trim, stitch top and bottom of trim. Even the cheapest hand towels look wonderful with something extra on them. Add some guest soaps (Michael’s has glycerin soap melts and forms to make your own) in a pretty dish. This is one my daughter has done for me. You should be able to find everything at your local scrapbook or craft store. It’s simple, but the thought is worth more then anything. You will need: Pretty scrapbook paper Solid green scrapbook paper Ribbon Easter grass or paper crinkles or moss (for filler) Glue stick Make a double sided flowerpot out of pretty cardstock, gluing only the sides and bottom, leaving the top open. Take a ribbon and tie around the pot. Make stems with leaves out of the solid green paper, varying the size of the stems. Make or buy some pretty paper flowers (Michael’s and JoAnn’s has packs that can work). On each flower write something like: Lunch at your favorite restaurant; Special movie date with popcorn and a drink; Mom and daughter dinner out; a shopping day with just you and me; Dinner for two (you and dad or friend) on me; and so on. Glue the flowers to the stems (a flower on each side of the stem). Place something inside the flowerpot to give it a little shape (I use Easter grass, moss or paper crinkles), then place your flowers. Believe me when I say this would mean more then all the flowers in the world to her. It will be time spent with the daughter she dearly loves.

My girlfriend the art teacher made this for both of our moms. She took a round glass vase and filled with blue glass stones. Then got two bunches of artificial gerber daisies in a variety of colors and two boxes of pens. She seperated each flower stem from the bunch, stripped off the plastic with scissors leaving only the metal wire and the flower. Then she attatched the flowers to the pens using floral tape so the pen is completely green with a flower at the top. Then placed the flower/pens into the vase so that it looks like a floral arrangement. Pretty cool idea b/c they are both secretaries so they always need pens and now they will have something nice on their desk to hold them. She got everything she needed at Wal-MArt good luck

Hi there My Mom who just turned 82 and lives in another province has seen some denim purses and gave me some strong hints on what she would like I had taken two colors of denim, burgundy and black cut from the backs of the legs of jeans (not worn as much as other parts), and made a stripe purse for her, lined it and included two pockets in the lining, inserted a zipper and it took me only a couple of hours from start to finish. Each side stripe was 4" burgundy denim and middle stripe 4" black denim. I reinforced the bottom with a heavy vinyl place mat and cutting it to size. After the purse was completely assembled I added a deep rose iron on decal on the black denim. I actually used stitch witchery to fuse the decal on the purse although the decal itself had some adhesive. I thought it may not stick through constant use and wanted to make sure it stayed in place. I mailed this gift to her early along with a couple of other purses and being 82 she did not wait and opened the parcel and needless to say she is carrying her treasures in one purse one day to the doctors office, another purse another day to the grocery store, etc and just loves it.

A shadow box is a great idea...take a couple pictures and some pretty fake flowers or embelishments and put them in the box. You can buy a shadow box at walmart and stain it. Or make a mini scrapbook. You can buy really little ones and they are quick and easy. You could decorate a frame and put your fav pic in it. You can buy a breakfast in bed tray and put pictures under the glass with some nice quotes. You can make a chest. Buy one of those wooden chests at joanns and line it with fabric and stain it or whatever you want. Then fill it with treasures (a frame with a picture of you and her, her fav candy, a movie, funny jewelry, etc)

Well I bought a flower pot and painted it lol, but depending on what she likes you could do a number of things - make candles, picture frames, jewelery, paint serving dishes/glasses etc....you could just walk through the craft store you're bound to run into numerous ideas just walking through the aisles.

Perhaps you could start with something more personal, like a picture frame. buy a small wooden picture frame...a pastel color or white would be best... then purchase some small assorted sea shells (sometimes they're in small bags) You can paint them with pastel or bright colors.. Glue them in evenly-spaced places on the picture frame... Or you could use bright colored or fancy buttons (get in fabric store) instead. Finish off with a silk fabric flower( glue on upper right-hand corner ) Put in a nice picture of you or whatever you want) You could also use ribbon tied into a bow for the corner(glue to frame) Presto !! Custom frame for "Mom" !!

Hi: My daughter and I are making T-shirts for both of her grandmother's...We are Using plain white T-shirts.(But you can use whatever color plain T-shirt you want) We are using paint and glitter that we bought from a craft store...and first we used a crayon and Wrote Happy Mother's Day then we traced along the crayon with glue and added glitter to the shirt. (For best results get glitter in different colors and finish decorating the shirt however you like)..We also drew pretty hearts all over the shirt with the crayon added glue then glitter..Painted the inside of the hearts red (or whatever color you like) then sprinkled a little glitter over the painted hearts while the paint was still wet. (sprinkle a little bit of glitter in the hearts, not a lot). Now you are done..You can also decorate the back of the shirt if you like.
