How do I string paper lanterns overhead?

Best way to attach the sides of these paper lanterns? Also how can I hang them up and add a platform/bottom?

  • I am making these paper lanterns from the movie Tangled. (here's the link to the tutorial:: http://www.youtube.com/watchv=Wlmtt5Glq_A&list=FLJQr5WA4pD5EuBARew8ywfw&index=1&feature=plpp_video) In the video tutorial, they attach the sides by stapling them. I personally think this looks sort of tacky lol how else can i attach the sides, especially since it is cardstock, so it will stay but still look "seamless" and not-tacky lol also how could attach string to the tops to attach to the ceiling? and how can i add a platform either on the bottom or inside to set a flameless led tea light candle on? Thank you! :D

  • Answer:

Seamless That will take some effort like larger card stock paper, you could try a hole punch and lacing them together, gluing together is possible. white duck tape? strings use a hole punch platform for a light, dowel rod cut to size in a cross add light by gluing to dowel rod. If you buy theLED submersible tea lights a Micheals or other place they clip on/hook on. you could make a bottom to the lantern by tracing a patter of diameter and again either lacing or gluing to lamp shade cut a slit on this bottom piece which will be circular (don't forget to hole punch the places for string or ribbon) the clip/hook the LED submersible tea light. to the inside of the lantern bottom.
