How to do 1 Single crochet in each of 2 stitches?

• I am a beginner and trying to make a hat and below are the instructions Round 3: * 1 single crochet in one stitch, 2 single crochet in next stitch , repeat from * around. ( 18 single crochet) Round 4: * 1 single crochet in each of 2 stitches, 2 single crochet in next stitch around, repeat from * around. ( 24 single crochet) Round 5:* 1 single crochet in each of 3 stitches, 2 single crochet in next stitch around, repeat from * around. ( 30 single crochet) I understand "1 single crochet in one stitch" but i do not know how to do the "1 single crochet in each of 2 stitches" and "1 single crochet in each of 3 stitches" similarly the next is "1 single crochet in each of 4stitches" Can anyone explain or give me some layman instructions on how to do "1 single crochet in each of 2 ,3 and 4 stitches I am stuck and need some help.   They are telling you to increase. basically, you do on single crochet in the first stitch, 2 single crochets in the next stitch, and repeat the pattern. the next round, you do one single crochet in each of the first 2 stitches, then 2 single crochet in the next stitch, then one single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches, then 2 single crochet in the next stitch. In this way you are increasing the number of stitches you have in each row. Another way to write this is, In the first round, single crochet 6 stitches into center ring. join. Next round, 2 single crochet in each sc around, 12 sc. Next round, sc in first stitch, *2 sc in next stitch, sc in next stitch, around, 18 sc.
