How can I make JAXB-generated classes participate in a visitor pattern?

Crochet Pattern I Would Like to Make and Sell - Can I (Legally)?

  • I found a crochet pattern for a handbag on the internet. I don't want to duplicate or sell the pattern, I want to sell the finished product - the handbag. The pattern is copyrighted and states "All rights reserved. May not be reproduced in any form without prior permission. May not be used for commercial purposes." So does this apply only to the pattern itself, or to the finished product? Again, I don't want to sell the pattern, I only want to to crochet the purse and sell that. Thank you for your help!

  • Answer:

Just to be safe, I wouldn't. I mean, if you add your own personal touch to it, then I am sure that would be fine. Just make sure you change it a little (whether that is adding a pocket, zipper, double vs. 1 strap; there is endless opportunities!). Plus, It will feel better in the end when you feel like you have made it your own =)

I realize this is sort of vague, but if you do change the pattern, you have to change at the very least a certain percentage of the original for the pattern to be yours......bad part is, I cannot remember the %. : / I'm wanting to say 30% You can check www.crochetville.com I know people there will know. I suggest contacting the person who owns the pattern. Most people are willing to let you use theirpattern and sell your finished products as long as you get permission from them first and/or credit them when you sell it. Good luck!

It only applies to the pattern itself! Your talent in crocheting an object is your copyright.permission. Most of us change the patterns a bit anyway when we make them. I do not understand how anyone can copyright things like crochet patterns as there is nothing new under the sun. Some things I see on the internet and some catalogues have that copyright notice, but I have the very same pattern in a pamphlet my great grandmother got at the turn of the century or something. So who is correct legally is a matter of conjecture. They stole the patterns usually when they add that heavy copyright notice to them!
