Crocheting Help?

Crocheting question (Need Help Quickly)?

  • I am crocheting a baby blanket for my godson. It has been a while since I've done this is my slip knot the first stitch or is it the first chain?

  • Answer:

Neither, the slip knot is just that, the slip knot. Then the first chain is the first chain of the beginning chain. The first stitch is actually the beginning stitch of the first row, whether it be single crochet, double crochet, treble, etc...

you don't count the stitch that is on the hook.

Hi there, This page for a crochet tutorial goes through the order step by step and shows you how to do it all. You do your slip knot, to secure your first loop from which you start to work your foundation chain. From your chain you should be able to follow the instructions as per your pattern, whether you begin by using single crochet (sc) or double crochet (dc) or another stitch. http://www.natsats.com/beginner_crochet.html Hope that helps!

The first chain is the first stitch. A great place to go for crochet tips, etc. is www.lionbrand.com. They have video tutorials on their web page. Good luck!

It's neither, actually. The first chain after the slip knot is the first chain.
