Where to buy biodegradable plastic?

Where can I buy Polymorph plastic in the United States?

  • I'm looking to buy some polymorph plastic for a molding I'm creating. It's like little grains of plastic that when heated create a molding applicant. I don't know where to look though. Does anyone know where I can buy some for cheap? I've searched online but they are all from outside U.S. i.e. Home Depot, Hobby store, online store? Here is a vid of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfcBWnOqr6s

  • Answer:

Polymorph is a brand of thermoplastic pellets sold in Australia and NewZealand primarily, I think. In the U.S., you'd be more likely to find the brands called ShapeLock or even Friendly Plastic (though it comes more often in flat decorative sticks for jewelry than in pellets). Here are some links: http://www.google.com/images?q=Shapelock http://www.google.com/search?q=Shapelock http://www.google.com/images?q=Friendly+Plastic http://www.google.com/search?q=Friendly+Plastic+pellets Not sure you can find it locally though, but you could check hobby stores, and perhaps some craft stores will be carrying Friendly Plastic these days. ShapeLock is a fairly new product in the U.S. so it may not be carried locally yet. And Friendly Plastic products are just now coming back into vogue but mostly for the decorative flat strips, etc. Similar thermoplastic sheets might be available locally at medical supply stores or something though since I believe they're often used for splinting broken bones, etc. Have fun!... it's neat stuff.
