How To Make Beaded Jewelry?

I make beaded jewelry. What is the best way to sell it?

  • I've considered craft fairs/city festivals and the internet. Do you have any other creative ideas for places to sell beaded jewelry?

  • Answer:

Friends and Work are the best way to start out and spread word of mouth. Try church and school fairs where you can buy a table for the day. $10-$50/day The Craft Fairs/Festivals are usually a lot more expensive and you sometimes need to provide pictures of your work to apply. Etsy.com is a great way to put your stuff on the internet.

There are several ways you can go. Of course, you'll want to wear your own jewelry all the time, and when you receive compliments, tell people you create and sell the jewelry, and give them a business card. (You can get free business cards at Vistaprint.com.) If you would like to sell your jewelry online, you might try Etsy.com, which is the premiere marketplace for handmade items. The beaded jewelry market is pretty crowded, so you'll have to work to stand out here, but some vendors are doing quite well. Craft fairs are great, but try to check them out before you commit. Renting a space can be expensive. At first, try smaller shows, or share space with another crafter/artist. If there is any local group of artists/crafters to join, definitely do that! You can organize your own small shows with just a handful of vendors at someone's home; you all invite your friends, neighbors and co-workers to come. Offer light refreshments, and make it fun! I am still pretty new to selling my crafts (www.memo-pause.com, "Memo-Pause, the wearable notebook for the foxy but forgetful woman!") and I had a slow start, but sales are starting to build. Word-of-mouth helps a lot! Good luck, Kara

One place that is overlooked and not that expensive is Mall Carts. You can normally get these on lease for a few months and the cost is not high at all. (based on the mall and the traffic) Other ways to sell your products: 1. Website 2. Ebay 3. Festivals and Flea Markets 4. Strategic Partnerships with Boutiques (i.e. if you are making wedding jewelry go to your local Bridal gown shop and make a deal. Showcase in there store, give it to them on consignment and if they sell it split the profits) Hope this Helps! Trisha http://www.wholesalevintagebeads.com/
