How to snipe in airsoft effectively?

Airsoft?! to snipe or not to snipe?

  • Ok, I'm 13 years old and I'm look for a sniper rifle for airsoft. We only have about 5 people on our team. Our leader says if i get 1 he'll kick me but ill need to prove him wrong. The field we will be playing at is pretty big for small teams. So my questions are: *Should I really be a sniper?(i love sniping and I'm really good with aim) *What sniper rifle? I was looking at the UTG M324 (note) I'm only about 5 feet and weigh around 95-100 and I think the gun would be a hand full for me. *How much do the bbs drift? and will it draw blood? *how do i convince this kid to let me snipe? do i prove him wrong? *most of the team members and going to use shut guns and 1 m16 so should'nt there be a marksmen? *last what should I do to get the money in less then 2 months for the gun and all the gear and ammo info: budget $140 I'm pretty strong for an 13 year old but short so i need a gun that isnt taller then me lol (im 5 feet) don't say anything stupid and please include links and disc.

Don't start off with sniping especially in small team combat. Play styles will also differ depending on team dynamics, field, indoor/outdoor, etc. Play as it is needed and as the team is set up. I'd pick up a UTG or JG aeg. I have the UTG MK96, UTG MP5, UTG pistol grip shotgun and several other pistols. The variety gives me flexibility in play but that's because I can afford to. Get a decent AEG with decent range. You'll have more fun. Plus the sniper rifles can hurt and you'll usually need to shoot a minium range, ie. you only can shoot it when targets are over a certain distance. I've given a couple of nasty welts to friends of mine shooting at a long distance. If you go with a sniper rifle, minimum .20g bbs - they'll drift. You can account for the extra spin to give you some more range. I usually use .30g bbs. Show your team leader by respecting him listening to him. Show him you can play as part of a team and earn his respect. Then perhaps later, when you can buy another gun, say your sniper rifle, then he'll let you use it. Good luck!

Being a sniper in airsoft, an din real life, is more then just using a bolt action rifle to kill people at long range. A lot of airsoft snipers I know from milsim games do not consider themselves primarily snipers. Almost all of them use their sniper rifle as a secondary weapon, with small scale guns like G36C or M4 being their primary weapons. Playing with a sniper rifle is like using a double egjed sword. On one hand side, you can often reach out and take out players from a full feild away without getting shot, but on the down side, many professional fields have distance restrictions on how far you can engave targets form (eg. the field I play on, you cant shoot anyone closer then 75 yards) and extra weight and ammo you need for your sniper rifle will take away from what you can carry for your primary AEG. So if you are willing to go through the pains of sniping from a minimal distance and running out of ammo in a long firefight, you can choose to be a sniper. I would strongly sugest that you go with an M14 rather then a full out sniper rifle, and there are several reasons why: *M14 has a happy switch, sniper rifles dont. That means that if need be, you can go full auto on your opponents in a close up firefight.Sniper rifles on the contrary are bolt action, making you have to work every round into the chamber yourseld, slowing you down. *M14 uses mags, sniper rifles dont. A lot of snipers use a tiny 10 round mag that are really hard to find. M14 uses full size mags that are radily avalable in many sizes and can be easily swapped in and out during a firefight. *M14 is just as accurate as any of those sniper rifles, but since its not bold action, a an M14 upgraded to 400 FPS is allowed a much closer engagemant distance then a bolt action sniper. *Since M14 is not an all out sniper and has an automatic setting, you can say to the team captain that its not a sniper rifle , but rather a long rifle that you can just attach a scope too. Its full auto, so you can say that if it comes to close firefights, you still have to ability to put a lot of rounds down range accuratly. And many of of the M14's have a rail you cna mount on the side that will allow you to put on or take off a scope for taking long shots. No projectile is perfect in flight. Even the Large .50 caliber sniper sounds drift off corse( dont believe me, ask a sniper, its true) Airsoft BBs are even more prone ot going off target then normal firearm bullets. When choosing BBs, .25g are the LIGHTEST you should consider, with .28g being your standard rifle ammo. .30g are even better, but they are very hard to find, are very expensive per round, and come in small bottles like 500 per bottle compered to 2000 ber bag of .28. Be pripared for the fact that BBs will drift off corse, and you might need to take several shots to hit their target. If you will ever get an opportunity, upgrade your rifle to a tightbore barrel, it will gratly improve accuracy. The reason why snipers are requiered to have a minimum engagement distance is because many sniper rifles are overupgraded to very high FPS (500-550 being averege milsim strancth) and if anyone is shot with one of these at close range, it will graw blood. However, if you keep your rifle at or below 400 FPS, you wont draw blood unless you fire at point blank. Sure, you can prove him wrong, but then he may just kick you off because you showed him up. Noone likes a showoff, even if he has skill. Instead, get something like an M14, a weapon that has multiple uses, and convinve him that you can perform a task that he needs you to do at any time with your weapon on full auto.Tell him that just because your rifle does have a scope on it, that doesnt mean that you can only do long distance fights. You may have to kiss up at first, but in the long run, you will be better off. Depending on the type of gameplay, there may or may not be a need for a marksman. If you gonna go Close Quater Combat (CQC) a sniper rifle is the last thing you may need, but an automatic is a must. If you plan to play in an enclosed area, there may or may not be a need to have a marksman. If you play in a wooded area, a marksman is a nice person to have, but not a requierement. Many teams use the mentality that " its better to have 10 guys with a full auto guns then 1 sniper". depending on your game fiels, try to adapt the best you can. A sniper may not be a solution in every situation. Being 13 limits you in how you can get money, but try to find odd jobs that will pay, and kiss up to your parents so they may give you some extra cash. That means study in school and behave. Some of the links below are for product sales. Many of the guns there are on the more expensive side of your budget, but they will last longet then anything you will ever get from sites like hobbytron and shortyusa.

You'd be better off with a gun that is accurate and powerful but not a sniper rifle.

Get the well l96 good sniper right now im useing a tokyo marui mac-10 (uzi looking but not 1) to get the well go to www.airsplat.com its 8dollars above youre budget buts (supposely its 1 of the best snipers).

the UTG M324 will not draw blood its velocity is low and since its a stock gun you will need to use heavy bbs to hit something like .3 gram bbs. i do not reccomend the gun unless you getting it and upgrading it. the sniper is a expensive role just forget it seriously its not worth it sometimes your enemys dont even feel the shot. go with a aeg

EDITED to start, if you're team leader says he'll kick you for getting a sniper, and has no good reason to, then he's stupid. snipers really don't have all that much power over other guns, maybe 15% -20% more at the most. they just have a little more so that they can go that extra distance. secondly, please don't get the m324. i have it and it's craptastic. you can't upgrade it and the hop up makes the bbs LESS accurate. instead, get the JG BAR-10. I've heard nothing but great reviews on it and comes with a load of accesories. and because it's a clone of th TM VSR-10, you can upgrade it with almost all after market parts for the VSR-10. but it already comes stock with just right power and accuracy, so you don't need to worry about upgrades. but at least it's there if you want it. I've never seen a bb draw blood. or at least no significant amount. the most I've EVER seen an airsoft bb draw is 1/4 the amount that oozes out after a mosquito bite. the conditions for this was: 10 feet from gun no shirt, and the gun was over 400 fps. i was the one who was shot. if your leader is your age, hasn't given you any good reason to not get a sniper, and wants to kick you if you get a good gun, then you should probably find another team. however, if he's 16 or 17, and has had experience in the world of airsoft, then he probably makes a good leader. if he has been doing it for a while, then listen to him. because really, a full on sniper is really a pain. to get a sniper that can shoot a good distance accuratly (160 feet or more) requires a huge lump of cash ($450 and up), a lot of upgrades, a lot of waiting for parts, and heavier ammo, which is really expensive. also, are you a team that plays against another team? if you are, then simply reason with him about why it would be advantogious to your team if you had a sniper. but then again, a really good sniper is way out of your budget. if your just a group of kids of the same age that play with eachother, your "leader" probably is irrational or has anger issues IF he wants to "kick" you. that's what my old airsoft buddy was like. i got a better gun and he FLIPPED OUT. OH! there is also no trouble inviting the rest of the team to a match but "forgeting" to invite the leader. it can be a game for friends. simple as that. there is absolutly nothing stopping you from organizing a game of your own, with whoever the heck you want. second, if they're playing with shotties & only a single m16, and you want to get a better gun, try to find some other people who play airsoft. look at the high schools. my high school has only 130 kids, and about 40-50 of them airsoft. so you shouldn't ahve any trouble finding kids to play with. my old friends play, but they haven't gotten a new & better gun for the last 2 years. so i found some new people to play with who had some better guns. interestingly enough, after about 3-4 games with the new friends, the ones that i used to play with started inviting me back. anywho, there you go. the people you need to play with need to go along with the gun you have. if you want to still be on the team, but get a better gun with accuracy, get a Steyr AUG. it's a bullpup weapon with a brilliant accuracy and fully automatic. i have one and it's NEVER let me down! it's AWSOME!!! it's just an all around epic gun. as soon as you pull it out of the box and shoot it for the first time you'll love it. it has almost the same amount of accuracy as a sniper, but it's full auto & has a bigger clip. it's accurate enough that a scope would actually be practical and not just for show. plus, because of your compact body type, you'd be perfect for a marksmen. a marksman is the man in between the sniper and the infiltrators. he also generally stays a little behind, and to the side, of the rest of the team. his gun is a little more accurate than the infiltrator's, so he can get off enemies at a bit of a longer distance. if the marksman is small, he's harder to see and harder to hit. so yeah, i would recomend the AUG in the end. it'd be perfect for you. it has a great amount of accuracy in a small package. the whole thing is about 2.5 feet long. it's perfect for being a marksmen. you'd get that "sniper feel" without ticking off your leader. plus if you do get an AUG, it wouldn't be classified as a sniper, so you would be just fine and your leader couldn't kick you. SHORT VERSION: get AUG. but if you still want to be a sniper, then get the BAR-10. become team marksmen find new players if your captain is still ticked. have fun. the old players will invite you back eventually. i honestly think with your body type, and with you liking the sniper role, leans to being a marksmen. so AUG baby!
