How To Knit With A Knitting Board?

  • Good morning, I wanted to start to learn to knit. Someone tried earlier to teach me but I got frustrated because I kept losing the stitches. I had a problem with the needles. Is it easier to learn to knit w/a board first or w/needles. I do crochet but just haven't lately and have been wanting to try knitting for it's variety of flexiablity. If anyone has any ideas of where I can learn to knit w/easy please let me know. Thank you for your time. Lilb in California

    http://www.learntoknit.com is a good place to start -- http://knitty.com is good for patterns & techniques. Boards are easier but needles give you more flexibility!

Hi! I have the same issues. I have crocheted for years and always love the different knit stitches so have tried teaching myself and I have also joined a craft group at the church but, I have found some of the *best* info and help by registering (for free!) at this site: http://www.lionbrand.com/learnToKnit.html Once you register there are plenty of links for patterns (both knitting and crocheting) there are help links, etc. Hopefully you can find what your looking for here. This web site is very helpful because it has videos--it's just like watching someone sitting beside you. I find it easier than learning from photos & text because you can see the motion of the needles and how the yarn is wrapped.

go to ur local craft store and get knitting for dummies. it has pictures and is easy to read. they have videos too i believe. good luck and happy holidays
