Answer:
My friend and I used to do this when we were teenagers back in the 60's. We would use old coffee tins placed in a larger pan filled with some water over the burner. Keep the heat low. You have to be patient. Have something nearby into which to pour the melted wax. Again, we often used old tins. Sometimes we would use bowls with sand pressed inside. If you're doing a multi-layered candle, let one layer of wax settle and harden before pouring in the next. The wick can be easily made using a good woven twine. Dipping it in wax first and letting it harden is good, but leave some at the top. Wrap the un-dipped part around stick or spoon or anything you can use to let the wick hang into the center of your newly-made candle. Keep melting and pouring, as you wish. There is an old-fashioned way of doing this, and I'm sure you've heard of hand-dipped candles. It is labor intensive. Just melt all your wax in a tall coffee tin as described above, then dip the wick and let it dry, dip in again, let it dry, and do this over and over and over again until you have a taper candle. I know someone is going to make an off-color remark on dipping the wick, but at least you know from where the reference arised. Good Luck!

I melt the chunks of broken wax in a small dedicated pan on low heat. I pour the wax in an empty jar that is clean. (i sometimes use old salsa or jalepeno jars). Then, I drill a small hole all the way through the hardend wax. In the mean time, i have some regular string that costs maybe 2 dollars for a thousand feet, and I coat it with melted wax to make it stiff. I put the stiff string in the drilled hole. It doesn't matter if the hole is a bit too big in diameter, because when you light the string, the hole will quickly fill up with the melted wax under the flame.

I might try laying them on a sheet of wax paper on a pan and stick them in the oven. It worked with crayons when i was in girl scouts and made a really cool design too.

Yes but you need to put same colors together. otherwise you will end up with mud color. Take an old old (something you got at salvation army) and heat them up until they melt. You can put chunks of opposite colors in it too like yellow into red and then pour into a mold of milk carton or other round shape with a taper candle in the center/ or use a wick stuck down with a little candel wax. have fun be careful of fire on the stove though!

Yes you can.Place old candles in a small pan,Place the small pan into a bigger pan that contains water,Bring water to a boil the simmer till wax melts,
taxed till i die,and then some.
WARNING..be careful when melting candles because there is very little between the melting point and the flash point.,you dont want to set the house on fire.
