How can I make miniature Christmas tree ornaments?

  • My mum got me a miniature purple Christmas tree a few days ago on clearance, and I want ornaments for it. But its only a foot tall, and I can't buy any. Does anyone know how to make mini ornaments? or a star for it or something? I know it's past Christmas, but I love Christmas time, so I intend to keep it out all year. help?

  • Answer:

Dear, you can buy Miniature Christmas tree ornaments at Hallmark. This is the best time to purchase them because they are usually reduced in price. But, if you have your heart on making your own, try fimo or sculpty clay. It comes in a variety of colors and once you bake them in the oven, you'll be ready to hang them on your tree. Make sure you put a small hook inside it while it is soft and before you bake.

<<How can I make miniature Christmas tree ornaments?>> Go to a store that sells lots of arts and crafts stuff. You'll find plenty of material to work with. <<My mum got <snip> can't buy any.>> Why "can't" you buy any? Chain drug stores, like CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, whatever, tend to carry alot of holiday decor. Chances are good that you will find little packages of mini-ornamants. You could decorate your tree with a combination of mini-ornaments and ones you made yourself. <<Does anyone know how to make mini ornaments? or a star for it or something?>> Go to arts and crafts store, look and see what kind of materials are available, and use your imagination. <<I know it's past Christmas, but I love Christmas time, so I intend to keep it out all year. help?>> Arts and crafts supply stores are where you're going to want to go then. they'll have material all year 'round. It's what they sell. You're ONLY limitation is your imagination.

Remember that *anything* hung on a Christmas tree automatically becomes a "Christmas tree ornament" (as long as it's not too heavy or large). So look around for anything you have, or can buy or make that you can somehow hang. As for making things from clay in particular, check out these pages at my polymer clay "encyclopedia" site: http://glassattic.com/polymer/Christmas.htm http://glassattic.com/polymer/miniatures.htm http://glassattic.com/polymer/houses_structures_gingerbread.htm > Candies And these two pages for various ways of hanging things: http://glassattic.com/polymer/pendants_cording.htm > Loops & Holes For Cording http://glassattic.com/polymer/beads-holes.htm HTH

since it is after the holidays, you can get some mini ornaments to hang on it and add glitter. you can make some from clay or fimo. you can also make paper ornaments. cut out shapes from gift wrap or colored paper you like and glue it to a heavy paper then cut out your shapes. you can get seed beads and do a string. Good luck!

Clothespin and cloth. :) oh and a puffy red ball. Turn the pin upside down and add a strip on top. Then, add the ball. Rudolf the reindeer!
