What to put in a scrapbook?

  • So my 2 year anniversary with my boyfriend is coming up (couple days after valentines day) and I decided to make him a scrapbook..It seemed like a good idea when I was buying the stuff at the store, but now I don't know haha. I have a scrapbook album with 20 pages and special paper..I also bought some stickers and printed out a bunch of pictures..but what do I put in it?? I can't just glue the pictures to the pages, that would look terrible. I just did the first page, which is just our names and the date of our anniversary haha..None of the pictures have special themes so that doesn't work.. I was thinking of writing a letter or poem at the back of it or like little love notes on post it notes or something. The only time I've ever made a scrapbook was for a group project in high school so I am not good at this. I'm scared he won't like it but I want it to look amazing so maybe he will..any ideas?     There are so many things to put in a scrapbook. Since you probably don't have a lot of stuff, and to make everything cheaper, I'd suggest a standard paper size for the scrapbook out of 8 1/2 x 11, but any size will do. Take your special papers and there are so many ways to cut them. You can trace around a glass to frame the picture, and around a larger one to matt the picture. Make a page with hearts cut out all over, and you could even go around some pictures with the hearts. You can get some inexpensive stickers to do titles for the pages, Use things that you might have in other crafting areas, such as lace, ric-rac, staples, paper clips, and inks to glamorize pages. You can go to a sight that sells borders (which are awesome to buy later on), but try to mimic what they've created there, and realize that scrapbooking is your own art, and there's really no wrong. The sight is www.kiwilane.com There, you can find the mixtures of paper that makes the pages really interesting, and there's some really simple things you can see on youtube-just look under simple paper scrapbooking and it will pull some up. Also, use flowers, and journalize in it, which will make every page have meaning. You can journalize on paper, and index cards are great-and really cute if you cut one into a heart or circle or something-and a little inking around the edges of stuff will give it a finished look.

Scrapbooking can be hard. I have done some in my life and I know that where to start is the hardest. It will get easier. I found this book that helped me when I was stuck and didn't know where to start. Check out the site and I recommend buying the book. There is also a site link for Scrapbooking Made Easy. I like that site a lot. It help me to. Check them out and decide for yourself if you think they will help you.

Since you have been together for two years, you should have lots of great stories, memories and pictures...but don't forget the journaling, your recorded memories is what will make this a very special gift. They don't have to be long stories, just "remember when" moments. Or take pictures of places you go a lot together and add a little blurb about why you like it. You could relate the story of how you met. As for designing the pages, it's kindof like decorating a room. Once you've picked the pictures for the page then, decide which background color will make the pictures "pop" a little. Then add some embellishments...stickers, buttons, tags, etc. For layout ideas you can Google "scrapbook layout ideas", find layouts you like then try to recreate them while adding your own touches... or if you feel this project is too hard to finish yourself, you can hire a professional scrapbooker such as Remarkable Memories Digitally Designed Scrapbooks.
