How do I make fabric roses?

Want to make heart shaped pillow. What stores sell fabric?

  • I want to make a heart shaped pillow and am in need of fabric in order to do so. Do any stores like Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc. sell fabric? If not, what stores should I go to that would sell fabric? I want the fabric to be cotton, by the way.

  • Answer:

WalMart has downsized their sewing selection. All the stores that I know about only carry bits of fabric that have been cut, you can't go in and say "I'd like two yards of that, please" and have your fabric cut to order. Target never did carry fabric by the bolt. Bed Bath and Beyond will carry fabric...but it's fabric that's been made into sheets and pillowcases. There are plenty of fabric stores that carry fabric by the yard, and precut lengths as well. In most cases, though, a store that carries general merchandise isn't going to carry fabric, and if it does, it will carry only a very limited selection of precut lengths. You'll probably need to go to an actual fabric or craft store to find fabric.

Not every Walmart has fabric, mine does not. And stores like Olde Time Pottery have fabric when advertised, in large quantities. My Target and K-mart do not. Hobby Lobby, Joann's, Hancock's, any fabric store would have fabric. Some craft stores do. Michael's does not. Too bad you were not at Hancock's with me last week, there was some really nice cotton in red in the bin. would have been more than enough for a front and back of a pillow. Hobby Lobby now advertises fabric online. Check local quilting stores for good cotton fabric. There are several in my area. And when you get to the fabric or craft store, ask where the remnant bins are, and check there for fabric. There might be small quantities of something you can use, for half price or less.

Walmart, certainly. I don't know about the others. Hobby Lobby is more expensive, but they have a better selection.
