What is the difference between a Fender American Strat and a Fender American Special Strat?

Should i buy a standard strat or an american standard strat?

• right now i can afford the standard.but should i save up and get the american standard? is there much of a sound difference? will the paint wear off "nicer" on one of them? right now i've been using a bullet strat would i here a sound difference right away? I know its the guitar player and not the guitar but i'd just like to know.

  The American is nice if you can afford it, but not that much nicer than the mexican "standard" strat. Some people even claim that the non american sounds better. If i were you, I'd buy the non american one and use the extra money to get some new gear: a tube/vavle amp, some effects or something. Good luck on your decision :)
