I need inspiration for my wedding table centres...can anybody help?
-
I am getting married in three weeks and have been attempting to make my own table centres on a very low budget. The colours i am using are red (roses), ivory and gold. The plan was to have a single rose in a tall glass bud vase sat on a candle plate surrounded by candles and glass pebbles...I tried it last night and it didn't quite look as expected. Have trawled the internet for inspiration and am still left a little stumped. Can anyone help?

It sounds like you don't have quite enough color in your centerpieces to draw the eye. If you just want to supplement what you already have, why don't you try getting some curling ribbon in gold and ivory and get some red silk rose petals (I've seen them at Party City, among other places). Curl a few yards of ribbon per table and just lay around the glass pebbles and candles, then sprinkle on a handful of the petals for additional color. You might want to add a few drops of yellow food coloring to the water that the roses are in (make it resemble champagne?) because it is color that will make the whole thing sparkle. On a different note, for my centerpieces, I got some of those clear acrylic boxes and put pictures of my husband and I as children on the sides. We had eighteen tables, so I got 36 different pictures of me and 36 of him (I took them to Kinko's and got color copies so the originals were safe). I cut them to fit just inside the boxes and taped them in. Then, the boxes themselves were filled with birdseed and paper fans were stuck into the seed to keep them upright (my wedding was in July and it was an outdoor reception). The guests didn't want to just stay at one table. They had to go around and see all the different pictures of us.

COngrats on your upcoming wedding! Maybe you can make a small ceterpiece of your red roses and have them on an ivory doiley (not paper, like crochet) and have picture confetti around the certerpiece on the doiley. Get pics of you & your fiance that celebrate your love & print them out in small thumbnail size. Print out lots of them & "sprinkle" them on the tables. I did this & it was a real hit!

Put the glass pebbles in the bottom of the vase, then fill with colored water I would use yellow water to give the gold look. Them put some ribbon around the vase one wider than the other color. Use the Ivory first then use a thin ribbon of gold to go over it center the gold over the ivory ribbon. I would hot glue this on so that it will stay then take and make a little card with your names and date of the wedding and tie it on to the vase so that everyone will remember the event and it can be used again for another occasion, or for more flowers. And I would put some curled up ribbon on the table surrounding the candles and the vase. also you might try to add some ivory or yellow flowers in with the rose. or alternate ivory with yellow flowers. one with a red rose and a yellow flower, then the next one could be a red rose with an ivory or white flower. that would be pretty too. best of luck and God bless you both on your wedding day. I did something like for my wedding and everybody liked it.
A coworker of mine got mini fish bowls and surrounded them with roses. On the day of the wedding, she had a bridesmaid pick up goldfish that she had ordered and they put them in the bowls. She said it was very cheap, and unusual, and the guests liked being able to take the fish home :) Since one of your colors is gold, maybe this would work for you?

There are alot of fun things you can use depending on your budget. I used disposable cameras, and almost everyone who was there gave us a copy of the pictures they took, and that really gave us some great candid shots of the wedding and reception. If I were you, I would go to the local dollar stores (the ones that really only cost a dollar for everything in the store) and get some ribbon in ivory and gold, and some brandy sniffters--fill them with water, float a rose inside and wrap the ribbon in a bow around the stem. You may also find rose shaped candles that you could use instead of a real rose-though I think the fresh roses would cost less, and look prettier. If they dont have sniffters, you could use a clear wine glass instead.
