Butane lighter not working?

  • I bought a lighter from Rome a long time ago and i finally decided to fill it. I have not filled one yet ,but i'm quite sure i did it correctly. There most definitely is a spark when i try it ,but it won't light. Does it take time or..?

    Yep the other 'prime' answer is correct to start. Also, -without- -sparking- the lighter, press and hold open the valve, and hold the lighter up to your tongue. Whether it's air or butane coming out you should feel a slight sensation that is pressure being released. If you don't feel a tiny 'breeze' that means it's somehow clogged.

You probably need to prime it a bit since the butane hasn't gotten to the port. Also should check the port to make sure that it's clear, and have a look at the flame setting to open it up all the way (at least you can then set it back down to a proper level once you do get it lit the first time).
