How do you make paper look old?

  • hello :) i was wondering how to make plain white paper look old, yet still keep it sturdy. i need to make about five papers look old, so how much material do i need? i've heard about wrinkling it up and burning the edges, but i would prefer not to do that because burning creates a mess when the papers fall off and wrinkling causes the paper to wear thin... thanks so much! (i would prefer to do something that YOU have personally experimented before)

    OMG! i did that last night for world history you can wrinkel it up dip it in a coffe cup for about 5 seconds till it all soaked then take it out set it somewhere till all the coffe drips out let it dry aslong as it takes then when its dryish and you know its not going to rip if you open it then open it and lay it flat till it drys then it should loook old although burning the edges or kind of ripping them would make it loook better hope i helped

my class did this last year and really worked 1)crumple and un-crumple continuously 2)pour tea water on it and wipe it off 3)burn the edges of the paper and let some of the paper fall off number three looks real good and here are some things to do with it: if you have to make a short story do like a diary thing and on the last page make it seem like it was a house fire or something,make a poster advertising something like Eaton's catalog or advertising work

Soak a few tea bags in water and then put the paper in it for a few minutes. When you take it out, leave it lying flat to dry and then when its dry scrunch it up. You could very carefully burn the edges as well, but careful or it might go wrong. I used to do this for history lessons a lot!

I haven't tried any method, but I would wrinkle and smoothe it out, or lightly brush with a mixture of tea/or coffee and water.

I never tried it, but I think lemon juice and then heat yellows the paper.

crush the paper and it will look old.
