Any ideas for scrapbooking?

Using bottle caps in scrapbooking? Need IDEAS!?

  • I have a lot of bottle caps that I've recently aquired through a trade in my scrapbooking community. What are some things I could (for my scrapbooks) using these bottle caps? I ONLY want to use these in scrapbooking, no other crafts. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I have a couple of ideas: Put something into the bottle cap (sticker, letters, numbers, confetti, charms, etc) and then fill with white glue. When the glue dries it will become clear and the image will be embedded into the cap. Poke the bubbles out with a pin before the glues dries. Then attach to the finished cap to the page with a glue dot. Paint the flat sides to resemble stepping stones to use on a garden theme page. Just sponge on a few colors of paint to resemble stone. Punch holes in the side and attach them with wire to create a bracelet and use for titles or to re-create a charm bracelet. You can use either side of the cap for this. (The flower idea already given is a cute idea!) You can flatten them out too if you don't want the bulk. Best of luck! :)

You could probably paint them bright colors and make flowers out of them.

OMG you can use these for anything. I know I use diecuts to put on mine. The cricut has a handy circle feature with some of the carts. Huggers, Christy AKA Darth Turkey http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Scrapbook_Swaping_4_Fun/

You can use these for so many things --like some have said alphabet titiles on top of them and such but I also like to make them look like christmas ornaments for my christmas pages--also I do not put them in direct contact with my photos if you are worried about "threat" but I have not had any problems I also use the perfect scrapbook by colorbok (yes that is how it is spelled) b/c they hold 140 layouts --yes you heard right 140 layouts and they still look great--I have 3 full ones so far each with 140 layouts in them and I use alot of "bulky" decorations --and yes like someone else said store them like a book on shelf....also instead of glue you can use crystal lacquer to fill them after you have embellished the inside cap--have fun and play with them--

I don't know about bottle caps, but is sounds like a great idea...a 3-ring binder is a good idea...and your creative imagination is the most important...

I would say it is a no go how are you going to make the scrap book close and be neat. I think it will throw things off a bit.....but then again I am an armature.

Put them upside down, and attach an alphabet sticker to each one to spell out something.

When using 3D type embellishments (especially metal), you will want to consider several factors. Even in a 3 ring binder, they can dent the photos on the facing page and add a lot of weight to the page, meaning you will not be able to add as many pages to your book. Then you also need to consider rust if these albums are intended for long term storage. Always store your album upright (like a book on a shelf) instead of stacking them to reduce any unneeded pressure on the pages. Good luck!

There are so many possibilities with bottle caps - true some people do not like bulky embellishments, but some certainly do. I love glitter glue - so I'd layer some glitter glue in there (not sure if it would work best with a big gob & let dry or if it should be thinner layers, letting dry in between)... then you can lightly stick a small button in the wet glitter glue (don't sink it too far)... use it like this as a sparkly embellishment or glue the sparkly bottlecap to the centre of a silk flower (either from scrapbooking stores or dollar stores)... I would use Diamond Glaze to glue the bottle cap to the silk flower - very strong glue - let it dry well before you add your page to your scrapbook. One thing you could try to reduce or even potentially eliminate the possibility of rust - either 1.) spray the decorated bottle caps with clear varnish or 2.) paint it with "diamond glaze" (a type of glue)... if you do this be careful for drying - go light layers and let dry well in between... don't do front & back at the same time... Hope you have fun decorating your bottle caps! What a great embellishment to work with!
