Can you apply grip tape to a long board, if it already has grip tape on it?

is there a way to take the original grip tape off, and then put the NEW tape on? & how would i do this? should i take it to a skate shop? how much would that cost?

Answer:
remove old tape, lightly sand than apply new tape. pretty easy job.
