Make an ink stamp with printed circuit board?
-
do you think it would be possible to make an ink stamp by printing an image on the computer and transferring it to a printed circuit board and then somehow coat it in rubber or something?
-
Answer:
No. As a stampmaker I know that stamping is lower quality than printing, it's difficult to get precision registration and the soft medium means that slight variance in the pressure can make a vast difference on the printed image, leading to distortion. Also the microscopic tolerances necessary for circuitry aren't possible with stamps, either rubber or polymer. Furthermore, it might be difficult to move the necessary particles in the ink to conduct electricity without using chemicals that would damage the surface of the stamp. I suppose it might be possible to use magnetic ink to conduct a small charge but it seems highly impractical. Keep thinking of good ideas! One might end up changing the world!
