Is this right way to implement Abort, Retry and Ignore activity pattern?

Doubt in continuing the pattern in crochet?

  • Hi i was working with a sweater for my son and i was half way through the pattern it asked me to work 71/2 inches which i have completed. now the next step is as given i don't understand this can any one help? the pattern is below. Change to CC (optional). Ch 26 stitches at each end for sleeves. Work back and forth across sleeves and back in pattern stitch for 5 rows or 3 ½ inches. (You can also work this row by ch 26 stitches, attach to back and work pattern across as usual and then add another 26 ch. Turn and continue pattern.) Right Front: Continuing pattern, work over first 40 sts for 3 rows. At the end of the third row, ch 10 for neck edge. Continue in pattern across front and sleeve for 97 stitches (approximately 3 ½ inches). Omit 13 patterns on sleeve and continue pattern for 10 rows or approximately 7 ½ inches. Work 4 rows of sc. Fasten off. (When folded forward this should match the back.) Fasten off. Left Front: Attach MC and continue pattern for 10 rows (approximately 7 ½ inches); so that work corresponds to right front.

  • Answer:

The sweater is being worked flat and when finished will be sewn from wrist to armpit then down to waist. If I understand your question, you started with 4 rows of sc which would be ribbing, then worked up the back to the point where you start the arms. With new color, ch 26,then make your next stitch into the top row of completed back piece, until the end of the row, then chain 26.Turn and then continue working back and forth across the ch sts (sleeve), across the back, and then the other chain sts (other sleeve) until sleeves are 3 1/2" wide. Now you are are going to form the shoulder so only work 40 stitches then turn. Do this for 3 rows. At the end of the 3 rows, you will be at the neck, chain 10. This will bring you to the center of the chest. Turn and work across the chains and then the sleeve (97 stitches in the row) for another 3 1/2 inches. Now you will be working on the stomach part of the sweater. No more sleeve. Work back and forth across the stomach section for another 7 1/2 inches and then do 4 rows of sc for ribbing. To do the left front, mirror the right front side. Whew! Hope I'm right and that this helps. :o)
