Why is a bouncy ball so bouncy?

How to turn a rubber bouncy ball into a NON-BOUNCY ball?

  • Rubber bouncy balls are the perfect size and weight to juggle with but they keep bouncing away when I drop them. What can I do to them to stop them from being so bouncy? Any ideas?

  • Answer:

I have never tried to do this but I would try a few coats of white glue. It would dry into a hard outer shell.

My guess? Soak the ball in a hydrocarbon such as turpentine. It dissolves rubber. In theory, the more of a gelatinous outer layer you have, the less is left if the resilient ball in it's original state.
