What easy-to-do DIY jewelry could I make?

Can anyone help me identify this DIY arts and crafts activity?

• When I was a kid in the 90's I saw a lot of kids making these. They were these things you put on key chains, made in to jewelry, etc. They were made out of this plastic string. to make it you would take 2 or 3 of these plastic strings. Then you would weave them together. Some girls would just make one long one and put it on key chains, and some would turn it in to jewelry. There were two common weaving shapes I saw the most. One was a square shape, one was circular. The most common one I saw was the square shape since that one was the easiest to do.... Does anyone know what I am talking about? I know I'm being kind of vague and I'm not using very good descriptions, but that's all I remember about them
