How to dig for diamonds?

How to dig for diamonds?

  • In a couple weekends I am heading to the Utah mountains. The area we are going has some old volcanic activity. There is also a few lava tube caves. I don't have much planned so I will fill my time between fishing and looking for diamonds. I was surprised that there is little info on the web for a armature diamond hunter. All I learned is that lava might equal diamonds. Any tips?

  • Answer:

Diamond were first found in and around rivers. Erosion had done the "mining". Modern diamond mines sort through tons of dirt and rock to find diamonds. After crushing the rock it is mixed with water and poured over tables covered in grease. Diamond stick to grease. You could try something like that. Get some dirt from the river bank and mix it with water and pour the whole thing over a grease covered piece of plywood and see if anything sticks. Good luck I hope you find a bunch.
