How Do You Make A Purse Or A Messenger Bag?

  • My 4 Month Old Daughter has short gut, and when she finally comes home, we have to carry her IV bags and pumps everywhere...obviously they are connected to her. But I was wanting to make a bag for me to carry with the IV bags and pumps in. I could buy one, but no one sells what I have in mind. And if they do, it'd be too much. So I'd rather make one. So I need step by step instuctions on how to make a purse, preferably a messenger bag. Ah..if you can give me both. THANKS!!

When you say short gut, do you mean something like diabetes? i only ask that because you said a pump. im diabetic and i used to have a pump so i was just curious...anyways If you knit this is the pattern that i used for a messenger bag that i just recently finished about a week ago. its not too hard and it comes out really cute!! http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer05/PATTsatchel.html

Your best bet for getting instructions is to go find a pattern for one. Fabric stores or even a Wal-Mart sell patterns. The packaging for the pattern would tell you how much fabric you would need. The important catch to this is, do you have a sewing machine? It's going to be difficult to start from scratch and make a bag if you're not familiar with sewing.
