How do you iron on dark t-shirt transfer paper?

How do I iron on white letters onto a black shirt, using iron transfer printer paper?

  • I bought iron on transfer paper for dark shirts, and I want to print a phrase from my computer, using white letters. How do I make it to look right? I've heard of making the font outline and cutting it out, but It's a big phrase so It will take long and I don't want it to be sloppy. Also would it the transfer paper look white or glossy/see through? If it helps I got "Ink Jet-Transfer To Dark by TransferMagic.com" I went to they're website and it doesn't give helpful information.

  • Answer:

You need to be sure to purchase the iron transfers that say that they are for dark fabrics, otherwise the color of the shirt will show through. The best way is to outline and then cutout, but if your phrase is too big to easily do that, you can put a background of black behind your white letters and then iron on the whole page. The drawbacks to doing it this way though are, 1) wastes a lot of black ink, and 2) you have to worry about the two blacks (the shirt and the ink) matching, or else it will stand out. Good Luck!
