  • Answer:

I have had problems with acid reflux too, a friend suggested that I eat yogurt with active acidophilus in it. It seems that too much acid in your stomach hurts the "good" bacteria in your stomach, and because you have less "good" bacteria in your stomach it makes more acid. Any way I started eating yogurt with active cultures of acidophilus before every meal and in about a month I was off the previcid and haven't used it for over 2 years now..

i answered this question before with a small list of foods to avoid but that is not what you want. So.....you apparently do not understand how digestion works. Acid reflux is your stomach kicking back its contents when it is irritated by greasy, spicy foods or what ever is the trigger. The way to cure it is to not eat those foods. The thing is, not everybodys stomach is bothered by the same thing. Maybe spicy foods don't give you a twinge but a creamy rich sauce makes your acid reflux worse. I have no way of knowing that. Only you will know what makes the symptoms appear. The way to cure the problem is avoid the foods that cause it. There is nothing to heal. With acid reflux, you can go along for a long while with no problem but one night of pizza and beer, or one night of soft drinks and French food, heavy on the sauce and you can be having issues all over again. You can try eating yogurt which is a good thing for digestion but again, eat the things that irritate you and you are right back where you started. To cure an allergy to peanuts, you avoid peanuts. There is nothing magical to eat to cure the peanut allergy, you simply avoid the peanuts. Same with reflux. you avoid the problem foods

Any dairy products can act as a base which helps level out the amount of acid in your stomach. Stay away from really fatty foods, so the pancreas doesn't have to release as much bile into your stomach to digest it. I find protein rich foods like red meat help give the acid something to work on. Some food irritate that lower sphincter that causes it to open and let the acid up your esophagus. Try to avoid citrus, peppermint, lots of caffeine, and things high in fat. I have also newly discovered that sleeping on my left side doesn't give me acid reflux. If I roll to my right, its almost instant. I've had issues for years and the good news is with minor changes, my problems have diminished, I just can't stay away from the tequila. good luck

acid reflux is your body's inability to digest whatever it is you are ingesting ........ an intolerant reaction........ to heal it you simply have to avoid the foods that are making you so sick ...... plain and simple.... anything otc medication or food that you ingest as a remedy to "Heal" it will only ever serve as a bandaid measure anyway and the next time you eat the offending food the acid reflux will kick right back in ....... try ditching the milk and dairy products for a few days ......... that may alleviate the nasty pain of acid reflux for you ....... worked for me .... i used to get evil nasty acid reflux at night time until i ditched the icecream and all other dairy ..... lactose intolerance will produce acid reflux, achy bones, bloating and constipation, excessive belching, excessive gas, ribbony and stringy shaped stools, wet f*arting (sorry, no other way to put it) ....... even causing insomnia, headaches and migraines, irritability and moodiness ....... as a result of inhibited calcium absorption...... in the meantime, put a teaspoon full of baking soda into a mug full of warm water, stir up and drink up ...... be prepared to belch loudly and for the pain to increase a little for a few minutes but it will realkalise your system and quell the pain for you........ baking soda does contain an awful lot of processed salt so it wouldn't be appropriate if you have high blood pressure .... otherwise, only use it as a temporary measure and try to pinpoint what is causing the bad digestion ...... bad digestion is the source of your acid reflux. peace baby ♥

There are many websites online with people describing situations where they healed acid reflux and the specific foods depend on each person (for instance yogurt...good for some, bad for others). You are best to experiment and see which foods cause what - my advice would be to eat as many natural foods as possible and avoid spicy foods, avoid as much as possible eating processed foods like pizza or fried chicken and cut back on alcohol until you heal somewhat. Incidentally I have learned that overeating was very bad for me and so was drinking a ton of cold water while I was eating...weird I know.
