Can you take an antihistamine and a decongestant at the same time?

Are these antihistamine pills still safe to take? Help PLEASE?

  • I got prescribed some antihistamine pills today for my allergy rash. They're hydroxyzine 10mg. So i went to go take one this afternoon, and a lot of them accidentally came out of the container. My hand was a bit sweaty at the time, and I could tell they got a little sticky. I just put them back into the container and took one of the pills, but I noticed the ones I put back started sticking together and to the container. I left the container open for a couple of minutes and eventually they stopped sticking together. Are they damaged? Can I still take them? I'm a bit scared. :(

  • Answer:

Tablets in containers rather than foils sometimes get a little stuck together when they come into contact with the sweat on your hands. They won't start dissolving or be damaged from that - give the container a shake and they'll all be loose again. They'll still be fine to take, but, as with all medicines, check that none are stuck together when you take them!
