What are the symptoms of stomach cancer?

What are the symptoms of colon cancer, and what are the symptoms of stomach cancer?

  • How can you know if you have one of these diseases? what is the survival rates for both diseases?

  • Answer:

Cancer is very difficult to diagnose based on clinical signs and symptoms. This is because many of them are very general and are shared by many other diseases. One of the ways to diagnose cancer of the stomach and colon is through insertion of a tube or probe with a camera into the gut or the anus (for colon cancer) in order to visualize the tumor and to get a sample for biopsy. The symptoms of stomach and colon cancer include anorexia, malaise, weakness, abdominal pain, and constipation. This list is no doubt incomplete since cancer can manifest as anything. Signs of colon and stomach cancer include weight loss, abdominal mass, and black, tar-like stool due to internal bleeding. If you or anyone you know has these symptoms, see your doctor as soon as possible. To help prevent cancer, you need to lower your risk. Increase your fibre intake, and live a healthy lifestyle with plenty of exercise and reduction of smoking (better if you quit). Also, ask your doctor about cancer screening. Finally be very careful of people who will claim that they can cure cancer with herbs and other things. Ask them if they are a licensed medical doctor and if their treatment has been studied and tested and published in peer-reviewed science and medical journals.

I agree with angrydoc. Someone in my family died of colon cancer and I have a sensitive stomach so my mom was really into this stuff >o< As far as colon cancer, constipation and stomach pain are biggies. They aren't necessarily signs you have colon cancer, but signs that you might be more prone to it. As angrydoc stated (he sounds really smart and legit so I'd take his word), up your fiber intake so you don't have constipation and if something causes stomach pain, don't eat it. Fruits, veges and grains are great >o< If you don't have peanut allergies, I recommend Wholeweat bread with organic all-natural peanut butter on top as a nice snack >o< Good luck! Sorry I can't answer for the stomach cancer or the survival rate. ^__^
