How fast does Miralax work for constipation?

  • I think im constipated. i just went to the doctor and told all my symptoms and stuff and the dr put me on miralax. does this stuff work. how long will it take me to use the restroom. i can not make myself use the restroom even though it feels like i need to. how affective is miralax

    Miralax is effective in most people. Actually the best thing to do is take a stool softener along with Miralax.You should take a stool softener such as Colace one in the morning and one in the evening and one dose of miralax a day until you have regular bowel movements every day then you can cut back on the miralax to every other day and then just as needed.Miralax can work as quickly as a few hours but it can take up to 4 days before you notice a difference.I am a nurse and this is what the doctor i work for prescribes for our patients and this seems to work well. Miralax is alright its really soft so its not bad at all. I found that just using prune juice is more effective for instant relieve though.

miralax works great on me and it usually takes 2-3 days to work for me but i am sure everybody is different.
