Will these herbal supplements cause a bad reaction together?
-
I have Social Anxiety Disorder / Agoraphobia / Panic Disorder. I am currently looking for herbal anxiolytics/sedatives alternative to prescription medications. Currently I'm not taking any prescription medications. I've purchased the supplements below and was wondering if any of them should not be taken together because they might cause a reaction. L-Tryptophan Skullcap Valerian Root Kava Kava Taurine

Answer:
Herbs you mentioned -- mixing __________________________________ Generally one can think of herbs similar to food when it comes to mixing as long as they are nontoxic herbs; however, there can be a problem when they do opposite things. for example taking an emetic and an anti-emetic at the same time cancels each other out. You need to look at chapter 29 and 30 of the save your life manual of Dr Richard Schulze )who cured the incurables in his 20 year clinic and hundreds of thousands since). It seems there are two kinds of nervine herbs--herb sedatives like one would take for stress etc and nerve stimulators like one would take to wake nerves up like in parkinson's and other nerve disorders. Looking at the list you provided skullcap is a nerve stimulator while kavakava and Valerian are nerve sedatives, so I would read that chapter and see if you might consider a different nervine than skullcap. Many people are not aware of these differences and think all nervines are alike. ____________________________________ Types and form to take herbs in for best results ____________________________________ It is imperative that the herbs you take not be capsuled or conventional herbs. What you want to try to heal are only organic or wildcrafted (picked form the wilds) herbs as these are 7-10 times higher in the phytochemcials that cure and prevent diseases. They have discovered about 10,000 phytochemicals and these are only found in various plant foods. Often herb companies buy their herbs in 3rd world countries as they can be picked for pennies a day..countries that still use things like DDT and PCB and human fertilizer etc. Also you want to take your herb in the form of tinctures (2nd best is tea made with distilled or steam distilled water as it is empty and thus absorbed more of the healing phytochemicals. Be sure your tea is also organic, fresh or wildcrafted herbs) but best is tinctures. This is because the alcohol in the tinctures extracts more plant chemical than tea and it go directly into the bloodstream bipassing digestion. Capsules are rarely absorbed and often the herbs are burnt in the powdering process. A good brand of organic tincture I like is herbpharm and also herbdoc.com and one can make their own very cheaply using organic bulk herbs., email me if you want the directions on how to make a tincture (but I will need an email address to forward it as too long for yahoo answers which cuts you off too soon. The link to the manual I can send through yahoo answers though. It is a must read I feel (the chapter on head injuries and strokes talks about nervine herbs and the one on nerve regeneration (29 and 30) The other things you mentioned are just amino acids and can be safely mixed with your herbs as they are all essential foods or potent foods. ___________________________________ You need more omega three fats and less of the bad fats -info ______________________________________… What I would really recommend for you is upping your intake of omega three fatty acids and eliminating or reducing greatly your intake of unsaturated fats, all trans fats and hydrogenated fats. I read a book once and they had wonderful reversals of all types of mental illnesses. The ones I remember were schizophrenia, anxiety, bipolar, ocd, add, agoraphobia and dyslexia though there may have been others. In addition to the symptoms of these mental disorders going away, many of the people were given P.E.T. scans which showed that the brain had actually changed to resemble a normal pain. I would suggest taking 3000-5000 mg of more of fish oil. If not a vegan also add all kinds of seafoods as most have some omega three fats (if not farm raised but wild caught). The highest sources are canned or fresh mackerel, sardines, salmon and herring. The land sources of omega three fats are flax seeds (must be raw and ground up), flax seed oil (unheated--store in the freezer with your fish oil), purslane and raw walnuts. An incredibly high plant source of omega three fats is the superfood chia seed (sold as salba) which has about 3500 mg per tbs. The seeds are tasteless and mix with nearly all foods and liquids like salad dressing, mayo, juices etc. At the same times reduce your intake of omega 6 fats (unsaturated oils like sunflower, safflower, soybean, etc) as these fats are supposed to be one to one parts of each and the average American eats 20-50 times too much omega 6 which can cause brain chemistry imbalances due to harming the neurotransmitter receptor sites. I would cut out all saturated fats, trans fats and hydrogenated fats or extremely reduce them. Opt for vegetarian sourcs of animal products like vegan cheese (I like vegan gourmet--monteray jack), rice, soy, almond or oat milks, tofuetti "sour cream" or "ice cream" veggie burgers or "chicken" etc.or mix half and half if you cannot stop them. _________________________ Helpful books __________________________ Also see the books change your brain change your life and 7 weeks to emotional healing..my library carries them or maybe you can get them from inter-library loan or on amazon. _________________________ Diet help/cures ____________________________ Also I would consider going on the hallelujah diet. go to hacres.com and click on the education tab and testimonies See healing of someone with social anxiety here http://www.hacres.com/library/testimonies/my-thanks/1172 also go to the search and type in panic attacks or anxiety for more testimonies. this or even better a 100% raw food, vegan, whole food (real food as nature has it grown) has cured nearly everything. http://www.hacres.com/library/testimonies/my-thanks/1172 _____________________________ more help from Dr Schulze-re nerves ______________________________ I would also add the kind of nutritional yeast (torula) to your diet that Schulz recommends in chapter 30 of his save your life manual (I have the link for free is you want it..I do not post for reasons I can explain if requested). Good luck.

You'll be fine, so long as you're not taking any pharmaceutical anti-depressants with L-Tryptophan. Also, it can help to cycle off Taurine from time to time. Give yourself a 30 day break from it now and then. You may also want to look into L-theanine, GABA, and 5-HTP.

It is not possible to give you an accurate answer to this, because such herbs (crude drugs) are not standardized or controlled; they are mostly untested for safety and certainly not tested for interactions with each other. Ignore anyone who blatantly tells you otherwise without providing supporting data/evidence. Natural does not = safe. Personally, I would not mix kava with valerian or any of these you mentioned. Google the names followed by 'side effects'. Its a good question BTW.

Kava has plenty of well known and dangerous side effects. Google each one and use the term 'toxicology' to establish what the effects could be. Doubtless no studies have been done on mixing all these so the effects are likely to be unknown. Proceed with caution, herbs are NOT harmless!

Panic attack should never be treated with medications since panic is not health related its only in mind caused by stress so medicins only aggregate the problem.best approach is to treat it naturally through meditation and by making few changes in ya lifestyle like exercising ,yoga u have to make part of the daily routine and change some food habits and u can definitely see the difference. For more tips u can check http://tinyurl.com/getridpanic

None will cause any reaction.

No, but if you take a monkeyscull powder and a snaketooth that may cause a problem... Just teasing..!! One should read what is written on those bottles before answering your question. Why do you have to take all that together. I mean if they are not subscribed, I would just take one a t a time.
