  • To get the most nutritional benefits out of tea (e.g. green tea), must it be brewed in hot water? To get the most nutritional benefits out of tea, must it be brewed in hot water? Can tea leaves be added to, say, a smoothie?

  • Answer:

Hot water is the preferred vehicle for unlocking the essence of tea leaves and getting their health benefits. Raw tea leaves in a smoothie? Hmm...the texture might get too coarse and you might not be able to enjoy your smoothie. I suggest adding powdered tea leaves like matcha green tea to the smoothie. More about matcha green tea here:

Other answers

Yes it must and it also must be loose leaf and organic .... the commercial and tea bag varieties have had nigh on all their essential oils pulverised from them and could never possibly be of any therapeutic benefit. Just don't steep it for longer than 10 minutes or it gets that nasty bitter taste. xo
