On the other hand, I would like to point out that an Epidemiologist studies the spread of disease and isn't an otolarygologist, so like any other two doctors they could (and likely would) have a difference of opinion....most of the ones I seen, or whose materials I have read have said that tap water is fine for nasal lavage so long as the proper amount of salt is added (1/4 tsp per 8oz) through bottled water could be used if a nose was especially sensitive.
