Is vitamin D-3 the same as vitamin D?

Why does vitamin D3 kill rats when used as a pesticide but not humans? Or does it... eventually?

  • Is vitamin K or vitamin K2 an antidote for vitamin D3 overdose? What about vitamin A? Is vitamin A also needed in combination with vitamin D3? I was told vitamin D3 causes calcium deposits in the hearts and arteries of rats (killing them) without enough vitamin K. Can this happen to humans, over time, as well?

  • Answer:

Its possible since vit d is stored in fat cells it doesn't get flushed everyday like vit c. You'll know when you take too much vit d, you'll get sick, feel like there's pennys in your mouth. You would have to take a lot to actually die from it tho.

D3 can be lethal to rats & dogs but not to humans & cats. Vitamin D2 is good for rats but toxic to humans at high dosages (shame it's what's added to foods & in prescription vitD) Vitamin D3 is good for humans but toxic to rats at high dosages (shame vitD research is done on rats) The only dietary source of vitamin K2 (which is needed for calcium absorption) is in the Japanese fermented food called natto. There is a very small amount in cottage cheese but it's still fairly insignificant.
