Why is rooibos tea good for you?

Will Tazo Vanilla Rooibos tea help my stomach feel better?

  • I have ibs and right now either my ibs is flaring up or i'm at the beginning of the stomach flu. Calm tea from Tazo (chamomile tea basically) has always done wonders in calming down my stomach whether its nausea or diarrhea. They don't have that anymore so starbucks gave me Vanilla Rooibos. Will that help me to feel better or will it just make things worse? Can't find too much about it online

  • Answer:

It might help. Rooibos tea, which is naturally caffeine free (unlike ordinary tea) is known to be good for the stomach, to have anti-spasmodic properties and thus help with colic....hence it is given to young children in S Africa. Not sure about the presence of vanilla. Personally I prefer plain rooibos tea. If you can get hold of chamomile and that works for you then it might be better for you to stick with that. Most supermarkets and health shops sell it. Wrap up very well in the cold as cold does affect the stomach. Best wishes.
