Can mild dehydration cause brain damage in the elderly?

Does the drug psilocybin cause brain damage?

  • Does the drug psilocybin cause brain damage? I don't want answers from people that have no idea about drugs and just feel like saying yes (to brain damage) and not having a legit reason why. I tried them when I was 14 and I don't believe they cause any damage to the brain.

  • Answer:

No not at all.. In fact there are shamans in Mexico that consider magic mushrooms to be a sacrament and they have been using it for thousands of years without any negative side effects... here is a little info on the pharmacological aspect of them: The main alkaloid found in Psilocybin mushrooms is really similar to the chemical structure of the monoamine neurotransmitter Serotonin. when you eat the mushroom the alkaloid Psilocybin turns into Psilocin which then attaches itself to the same Receptor as Serotonin. which are the (5HT) Receptors found in the Central Nervous System. the main Receptor being the 5HT2A. What it does is it works as an Agonist at that Receptor...it attaches itself and then it activates it.. after that it immediately or almost immediately dissociates from it.. As i explained before Psilocybin and Serotonin have a chemical structure that is nearly identical... if shrooms were to cause brain damage so would Serotonin which is impossible... unless there is an over abundance of it, then you get whats called Serotonin Syndrome but that's not the case with Psilocybin... Here are some things that shrooms have helped with: Psilocybin mushrooms are more effective than any other drug out there at relieving pain from cluster headaches and interrupting cluster headache cycles before they occur. They also work at relieving Chronic Pain and Anxiety in Terminally ill Cancer Patients. Its also very effective in getting rid of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Clinical Depression. The most recent study shows that it might be effective in Treating Alcoholism or Drug Addiction as does LSD... Now there is no connection between psychosis or schizophrenia and the use of psychedelics however, studies have shown that its possible to "exacerbate latent or existing mental disorders" in people that are already predisposed to it.. what i mean is if you have a family history of mental disorders you might want to stay away from psychedelics but if your not than go for it! but you asked if shrooms cause brain damage... no they do not.. good luck mate!

I've done shrooms over a hundred times, and my mind still works fine. I actually think it works a little better, but that's just my opinion....

Repeated use can cause mental problems, which I guess would have to be caused by some kind of brain damage.
