Why do people drink?

Why are the people who party and drink a lot mean? :(?

  • I'm in first year university and I live on residence. Some background information on me... I'm a little shy but I am also really nice. I always try to be good to people. I want to make friends with the people here. A lot of the people on my floor drink and party a lot. I used to drink a lot this semester with them, but they weren't so nice. Like, they'd shut the door on me, run away from me and now I just feel like people are ignoring me :( I am a bit upset about this. I just feel worthless and I feel like no one likes me. But at the same time I feel like these people are a little rude. I can't help but thinking, why me? Why don't these people like me? I'm really nice and I always try to be a good person. I don't understand.

    Well you're certainly not modest. You haven't really explained a great deal on the background of the situation, for example specifics. Such as why they shut the door on you? What led up to that happening? Who, where and why they ran away from you, etc. If these people aren't very nice, then don't associate yourself with them. Find other friends you have things in common with, Universities have hundreds of sports clubs, groups and societies to join and meet like minded people.

Just continue to be yourself, honey.. they're just mean. they think they're better than everyone else because of their partying/ drinking habits. They'll get over it. There ARE nice people at your college, promise, you just have to find them. Keep being nice. Hold you head high. Hope everything works out for you :) xx

People who are always drinking and partying are just trying to get away from the reality of their lives, that their lives may be crumbling or they don't like their lives so they resort to drinking and partying and most of them think it's ok to be mean to people or maybe they just aren't being themselves because they are so wasted. So don't waste your feelings on people like that because they deserve a single tear. :)

dont worry you seem like a really nice person and yes there very rude people who cares if there not letting you in because its best for to just stay away because your better then that you dont need drinking and parties to be cool just be yourself and everything will work out i promise just hang in there girl :)

If I were you, I'd stay away from the party/drunk scene. Find friends that really matter. I think you already know how to make friends, it's just finding the right ones. The drunk types are really annoying. They always show up to class late, you ask them something and they go blank, or they say something really stupid or show how macho they are.
