What is the plural of Starbucks?

What is your opinion on tipping? Do you work at Starbucks, or know anyone who does?

  • If you feel comfortable answering this question, do you know about how much employees are paid at Starbucks? It seems like so many people holding out their hands and asking for tips these days. As a server in a restaurant, it is not unusual for me to receive a paycheck for $0, so I depend on my tips. Therefore, I frequently tip servers, cosmetologists, cab drivers, and delivery people. But what about people who already make an adequate wage, and the job just allows them to do their job and does not provide opportunities for them to go above and beyond? Does this include Starbucks employees? Today I went to Starbucks, which I do not normally frequent. I went in because I had a coupon. There was a tip jar out, but I did not deposit money into it- Should I have? Thank you. :)

    They make a good amount of money. My friend started at $9.00 per hour. It's nice to receive a tip, but come on. You're making a cup of coffee, not baking me a loaf of homemade bread. I don't tip at Starbucks unless they do something worth that tip.

Tipping is meant for good service,and is optional. Frankly, ubiquitous tip jars bug me to. You don't tip the mcDonald's employee who brings your burger to the drive up window? They do the same amount of work as the Starbuck's employee does pouring your drink. Sometimes I tip, othertimes I don't. Depends on my mood.

Not in starbucks, no you shouldn't have to. It's the worst coffee in the world for a start.

I don't tip period. It is their job to serve you.... That is what they get paid for. I am a designer at a newspaper and do i get tips from my clients after i make their ad? No, because it is my job.

Nope! They get paid and they're just doing their job. I don't get tipped for doing my job and I work in customer service.

I always tip at restaurants, but never at Starbucks. The service usually isn't good enough to warrant a tip. The difference is this: a waitress at a restaurant gets almost NOTHING by way of a paycheck. Starbucks baristas get $8.00 or more an hour.

NO !! If I feel I have to tip , I wouldn't buy anything. Then how much money will they make ? They make a more than average wage and have benefits. Which I believe is more than enough for a glorified soda jerk.

ya know its getting outta control.....now everyone needs a tip for doing their job! its now my job to pay your wages! i have to tip for every meal, for every drink, for every refill......i'm a subcontracted employee at a spa that often gets tipped as well but only about 50% of the time.....the rest of my clients figure they already paid for my services and dont have to pay on top of that.....and thats how i feel. if you didnt go above and beyond your job, i'm not gonna go broke throwing away good money after bad! if they just poured coffee and handed it to you then they earned their $9 and hour......move on!
