Why do we call them this? High school terms?
-
Why do we call freshman, freshman? Why do we call sophomores, sophomores? Why do we cal juniors, juniors? Why do we call seniors, seniors?
-
Answer:
Freshman is obvious (fresh men, fresh students), I think Sophomore has Latin roots, Junior is before Senior when naming children (Joe Sr. is Joe Jr.'s father), and Seniors are the oldest.
