Help help With my jobs?

HELP! What can i do if this summer jobs program person lied to me?

• Help please, i applied for this program that helps youths find summer jobs. Before applying, a lady (from the program) told everyone at the job fair (about 20 people) that she guaranteed us 100% that we'd all be getting jobs. I never got a call back from them so i called to ask about it. They then said that there's a lottery for the applications and if i don't get a call back, it means i did not get accepted into the program. I was shocked because one of the ladys from the program promised us that we'd get jobs for sure through the program. She never told us about the lottery proccess. I'm so sad that she LIED to us! I want to complain but i do not remember the lady's name. This is really unfair. I'm really desperate to be a part of this summer jobs program. Help what can i do about this? Is there anyway i can complain and get accepted into the program? (even if my application was rejected).

  My guess is that she was either a volunteer, didn't understand how the program worked, or didn't explain herself well. I doubt that just because someone said something during an interview that it guarantees you anything. If you are going to make an appeal, be very, very polite. Explain what happened and the consequences (you didn't try other places and now it's too late, etc.). I have never heard of any program that guaranteed people a place. Usually the spots are limited and they have many people to choose from and a limited budget with no room for adding anyone else. Nothing about how this woman lied so you deserve a spot. Everything you say will be positive and an appeal for them to hire you for who you are and what you can offer. Maybe somebody will drop out and you can take that place. Explain why you wanted to be a part of the program (skills you will learn, important work that will help the community). Don't stress making money or say anything about what you would have bought unless it was saving for college or buying textbooks for next school year or helping your family since the breadwinner has lost his job, or something really major. Try to get an appointment with the head of the program rather than talking with whoever answers the phone. You want the person who can make decisions to look you in the eye and turn you down. You will be neat and clean and not too trendy in what you wear. No orange Mohawks until you know the person already likes you. No yelling, threatening, shouting. The program might be available next summer and you don't want to kill any chances for the future. And, these people know others in the area and will pass on the bad news. No lying, either. That doesn't mean you can't put the best light on your reasons, just don't talk about an out of work father if you don't have one.
