How do you counteract a control freak?

The only way I know is to actually wound a control freak in order to slow them up a bit. But, it's only a temporary measure and sometimes amplifies the control freakiness. I would like to find a nicer way to pacify a control freak.

First, you need to point it out to them when they act that way. The issue must be discussed and brought to the foreground, showing them its not the way to behave. Don't let them control things because they will then things that is the way things should be
