When you post a question here in Yahoo, how is it that people who provide answers have the ability to stop..?

No, that can't be true, it usually takes 3 days at least if you don't choose a best answer yourself, then they will send you a message how you can prolong waiting for more answers.. in the hope that you will eventually receive ''best answer '' and make your selections amongst the answers you have received... then if the time has elapsed and you still can't make up your mind... and you don't like any of the answers at all you can either delete your question.. then nobody will get best anwer or it falls to the voters to select a ''best answer'' which could happen very soon or in some cases it could be 3 weeks before the select a ''best answer''

Yahoo should send you a warning email that your qustion is about to expire. if they dont, you should try to contact there customer services email, and tell them. they are the only ones with the power to do such a thing, and rectify it. no user can force your question to go to voting, it usually will first ask you for a best answer, and if you dont put one, then go into voting.

Go into edit question, you can extend the time that the question is able to be answered.
