Who invented the concept of putting ice in a drink?

• I know this must be a really stupid question. My friend and I were having a friendly argument the other day over who invented the concept of putting ice in a drink to keep it cold. She says it wasn't invented and that it just somehow became a logical reality. I say it did not exist until someone thought it up and invented the concept. There obviously was parts of the world many years ago that did not have refridgeration or ice. Also places where it was naturally cold year round didn't use iuce because the may have used hot drinks to keep warm. I say someone used refrigeration after the technology was invented and decided to make ice and put it in a drink to see what would happen. It stayed cold and he decided to market it. I mean these things don't just come out of thin air! Someone had to invent this concept? My friend says i'm a mooron. I think she is wrong! I cannot grasp the fact of this concepot being logically known throughout the world before it was invented.

  Ice was sometimes brought down from the mountains to cool drinks and refrigerate. It is an old concept, probably invented by Og, the Caveman.
