How can I prepare for a good interview?

How can one prepare for an interview, if they are nervous speakers?

  • I just went thru an interview for a higher position within my company, and quite frankly,, I bombed. I knew the answers but because I get so nervous, I gave wrong answers, I know I must have come across as an idiot.. I am sure I will not get the position at this time, however, there will be another opening in about 6 months at another site for the same thing.. I want to reapply.. But how can I train myself to be relaxed during the interview? I don't wanna screw things up again.. I know I have the ability to do the job.. My voice even cracks during interviews, like I am gonna cry or something.. lol

I am the same way ! One of the key things I can tell you is that it's very important to think about your answers before you speak. Don't just blurt out something directly after a question is asked ! It's perfectly acceptable to pause for a few moments to collect your thoughts and form your sentences. Employers will appreciate this fact and recognize your effort. Be careful not to pause for too long, though, or they might think you have no idea what to say ! Also, it can be so helpful to pump yourself us right before interviews. While you're getting ready and even on the drive there, listen to your favorite upbeat songs ! I also like to do a few jumping jacks (just don't get sweaty. :p) to get my blood flowing. Third, practice ! Before interviews, anticipate what they will ask you. Formulate questions in your head, and then answer them ! If you are alone, practice talking outloud. Practice speaking clearly, audibly, and not too fast. And if during the actual interview your voice does crack, don't be afraid to make a small joke out of it. Smile at the people interviewing you. You are only human. : ) Good luck ! And never forget that you can do what you set your mind to, as cliche as it sounds. You are strong and capable, and a positive attitude can get you far !

Be prepared. Have a list of questions you'd like to ask and interview them too. It's a good way to take the pressure off you and at the same time show you're interested in the position. These questions should be open ended questions that encourage long answers. Explain this, detail that...

the key to a good interview is relaxation , have a long shag before arriving and make sure you are half drunk...not enough to hamper how you vocalize your thoughts , just enough to let the inhibitions slide...have you considered marijuana or heroin? both of these have remarkable powers of relaxation , allowing you to shine during a job interview. Good luck!

I have the same problem but ten times worse. Do you shake as well and jump? Practice makes perfect.
