Is there a nice way to get someone to stop sending me chain text messages?

  • There's a girl who sends me around 10 chain text messages every day (no joke). I've told her that I dont read them and I dont care about them, but she sends them to me anyways. I guess I could just ignore them, but they REALLY get on my nerves. Any ideas on how to get her to stop?

    I was just going to ask how do you block someone on a cell phone, then I saw your response. I got all hopeful for a moment. I know mine can't possibly have that wondrous ability the first answerer said either (though not very kindly). Okay, off track. I know it stinks when you feel like you're hurting someones feelings. But really, she's just sending these chain letters to all her contacts more than likely under some ridiculous superstition. You've told her and yet she still does it. Maybe you could tell her each individual text in costs money and the chain texts are ringing up the bill. Or like you said, ignore them. But I agree, that has to be annoying, 10 times a day? Wow

I just told my friends that I have to pay for the texting on my phone, and I'm sure she understand that I can't afford all of the chain messages. If you arent paying for them, maybe you need to just explain to her how annoying they are again. Keep telling her and eventually she'll stop.

Blunt works best with some people. They don't take hints well, and the fact that you told her you don't care to read them went over her thick little head. Be very specific and tell her "Do not text me any more- lose my phone number. Really, I mean it."

Just tell her that you really like her and its nothing personal, but you really hate chain mails and they get on your nerves. I had the same problem, and thats how I took care of the problem, and it worked.

well if you have unlimited texts then it really wouldn't matter, but if you don't have unlimited texts then you can tell her nicely to stop sending them to you because you have a limited amount of texts each month. and even if you do have unlimited then you can tell her that anyway lol

That happens to me all the time too. People send tons to me and I feel like for some reason I have to send them on, some of my friends got mad at me for sending them and said, don't send me any forwards (chain texts). I think if you say, I don't really like chain texts, please don't send them to me. I say that and people still send me tons, but that's the only way I can think of a nice way to put it. Good luck!

I have a friend that does the same annoying thing. I especially hate the ones that say, "send this to all your friends, even me." Why the heck would they want the same stupid message back?? I have no idea how to get people to stop doing this. I have told my friend that does it that I don't read them, I never send her on any jokes or anything anyone else sends me either. Maybe you can tell her that you have to pay per message received and she is running up your bill with her messages. I know some plans only include a certain number of messages you can receive before they charge you. Maybe that'll work...

Ahh! I feel your pain Greta.. I got a friend who sends me those all the time.. I text her back telling her "My mom isnt gng to die if i dont send this to 10 ppl in 4 seconds.. my true love isnt gonna call me tonight either.." she just said LOL and kept sending em.. but then I just sent one to everyone kindly asking them not to waste my unlimited texts with forwards.. ;) Dont really get em as much anymore!!

Could tell her that your phone memory can't handle them all and you spend too much time deleting her texts so you can receive other texts
