Why are my feet purple?

Why are feet so mentioned in the bible, does it have something to do with our walk ...?

  • “My Feet Have Followed His Steps Closely”(Job 23:11) (Scriptural Feet) “You caused my feet to stand in a wide place”(Ps. 31:8, MT).( Setting Foot In/On) “They fall at my feet”(Ps. 18:38). (Victorious Feet) “I fell down at his feet as though I were dead”(Rev. 1:17).( Authoritative Feet) “A Thick Cloud Was Under His Feet” (Ps. 18:9) (God’s Feet))( “Your Word Is a Lamp to My Feet” (Ps. 119:105.)(Believer’s Feet) The foot occurs in many idioms expressing human relationships or situations. When a man is said to have “feet of clay,” it is acknowledged that he is fallible. To be on a “firm footing” is to enjoy a stable position as in business or a personal relationship. If we “get off on the wrong foot,” we are placed in an unfavorable position. An employee who is “given the foot/boot” is discharged. Someone who “plays footsie” with another person or a given situation is having an intimate relationship, perhaps flirting with disaster. Someone who is “foot loose,” however, is unattached. If we “put our foot in our mouth,” we blunder by making an embarrassing or troublesome remark. “Putting one’s best foot forward” signifies doing one’s best. To “put one’s feet to something” is to act on the basis of prior information or convictions. “Getting a foothold” on a problem secures a firm basis for solving it. If we “put our foot down,” we make a firm decision with regard to something or someone. To “follow in one’s footsteps” is to emulate another’s example or occupy his/her former position. To “leave one’s footprints” is to provide an example or an impression.11 Likewise parts of the foot also become employed in everyday speech patterns. If we “cool our heels,” we wait for a time but if we “kicked up our heels,” we indicate that we had a lively or merry time. A storm that follows another occurs “on the heels of the first one.” A person who is “under someone’s heels” is under another’s stern authority. Calling someone a “heel” can indicate that we think of him as an unscrupulous person or cad. The toe is also used in figurative language. To have “a toehold” on a situation may indicate a person’s entry into it. If we “step on someone’s toes” we offend them. If we “toe the line,” we follow set guidelines or orders and if we are “on our toes,” we are mentally alert. We also saw that those who have received Jesus as Lord and Savior are to have “beautiful feet”—feet that bear the good news of salvation in Christ to a lost and unbelieving world. “You appoint them to rule over your creation, you have placed everything under their authority” (lit., “feet”; Ps. 8:6).

There's one more feet - Happy feet! :) "Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer's feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills." :) (Habakkuk 3:18-19) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAMkggHmRUw Indeed, there is Music and Dancing in the Father's house when we all rejoice in the Lord who is our Salvation - Jesus our Lord and Saviour - for once we were lost, but now we are found. :) "'he was lost and is found.' And they began to be merry... as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing." (Luke 15:24-25) Yes, feet represents our walk - Watchman Nee in his book put it like this, when describing our Christian walk in Ephesians: First, we SIT well, knowing that we are seated with Christ in the heavenly places Then, we WALK worthy of the high calling in Christ as beloved sons and daughters of Most High God Finally, we STAND tall in the face of our adversary, having shod our feet with shoes of peace (the gospel of grace and peace) and quenching his fiery darts of condemnation with our shield of faith, believing and confessing that we are the righteousness of God in Christ. Hallelujah! Blessings to you, sis.

There is an allusion here to the active, grasping power which the Orientals have in their feet and toes. By constant usage they accustom themselves to make use of them in holding things in a manner which to us seems almost incredible, and they make the toes perform almost the work of fingers. We bind ours fast from early childhood in our close shoes, and they become useless except for the purpose of walking. But the Orientals use theirs differently. They seize upon an object with their toes, and hold it fast. If in walking along they see anything on the ground which they desire to pick up, instead of stooping as we would, they seize it with their toes, and lift it up. Alypulle, a Kandian chief, was about to be beheaded. When he arrived at the place of execution, he looked round for some object on which to seize, and saw a small shrub, and seized it with his toes, and held it fast in order to be firm while the executioner did his office. “Roberts.” So an Arab in treading firmly, or in taking a determined stand, seems to lay hold of, to grasp the ground with his toes, giving a fixedness of position inconceivable to those whose feet are cramped by the use of tight shoes. This may be the meaning here, that Job had fixed himself firmly in the footsteps of God, and had adhered tenaciously to him; or, as it is rendered by Dr. Good,” In his steps will I rivet my feet.”

What an amazing question. Amen to all the sharing that has gone so far. Such a blessing that we are all called to have such a walk before the Lord. That He is with us each step of the way, even such a forerunner, shepherd and overseer of our souls. We were once those whose feet were lame. We could not walk before God. But Praise the Lord Jesus, He healed our feet, so we can walk. Matthew 11:5 The blind receive their sight and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; and the dead are raised and the poor have the gospel announced to them; The lame signify those who cannot walk in God's way. After being saved, they can walk by a new life. Feet are so irreplacable because what we have been called to in this christian life is a walk that is in and by the Spirit. Galatians 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. I really the useage of the word " walk" in this verse. To walk means to walk according to rules. The Greek word means to observe the elements, to walk according to the elements, e.g., to walk in line, to march in military rank, to keep in step; and, derivatively, to walk in an orderly, regulated manner . Galatians 6:16 And as many as walk by this rule, peace be upon them and mercy, even upon the Israel of God. Both the walk in v. 25 and the walk in this verse ( vs 16) are by the Spirit and are regulated by the Spirit. The former refers to a general, daily walk; the latter, to a walk that takes God's unique goal as the direction and purpose of life, and a walk that follows the Spirit as the elementary rule, the basic principle. Such a walk is cultivated by living in the new creation ( vs16 ), by pursuing Christ in order to gain Him (Phil. 3:12), and by practicing the church life (Rom. 12:1-5; Eph. 4:1-16), thus fulfilling God's intention in Christ for the church. We walk not only individually, but as the Body corporately. Feet are also the part of us that makes direct contact with the earth. Of all the parts of the body, it gets dirty, even dusty the most. Its no wonder that the Lord washed the feet of the diciples as a pattern to us. Showing us that in this Christian life, we will be those who are in contact with the world, but we are equipped for this walk by our feet being washed by the water in the Word and also by having our feet shod with sandals, as seen in the picture of the Prodigal son. ( Luke 15:22) Sandals signifying the power of God's salvation to separate the believers from the dirty earth. The feet also bear the heaviest load. It carries the entire Body. Wherever the feet are, its where the entire body will be. I love the picture of the New Jerusalem, where there is the Street of Gold that runs throughout this city. Gold in the bible represents something of the Divine Nature of our Father. We, as believers, have been made partakers of such a nature. This tells us that today, we have such a foretaste of walking on the ' Street of Gold' because our walk should not be according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit, ruled and governed by the Divine Nature of which we have been born of and partake of day by day. Walking on this " street of Gold' should not be something new to us when we are in the New Jerusalem, but rather sis, its a walk we should practice today, in this age of Grace. So much on the Feet.. Its really hard to touch it all, but these points touch me the most. Grace be with your spirit sister Love in Him SW ADD Just one last thougth that had me in glee. Check out this verse. Romans 16:20 Now the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. The lowest part of the Body, even the FEET, will CRUSH satan. We are indeed part of Christ, as His Body, and corporately, WE, with Christ, BRUISE, CRUSH, the head of the serpent. The blessed Seed of the Woman, bruising the head of the serpent. When we walk in Christ, in the Body, satan is crushed. May we also be those who sit as Mary did, at the feet of the Lord Jesus, to be filled with His thoughts, preferences, sweetness and ways. Then rise up, to stand in all that He has attained and obtained. Knowing who we are in Him. I love the thoughts brother Jimmy shared on Sit, Walk Stand. Excellent read. I think God knows that it is the most "humble" and "humility enabling" part of the body. I come in direct contact with my customer ever day and by the hundreds...I have to come directly in contact with their feet/shoes constantly for security purposes. I know how embarrassing it can be to offer someone to put their shoes on them because they are physically handicapped or restrained, but it is very humbling and if you do it in the sense that you're humble and you have humility, it is received in the best fashion and they are greatly appreciated. As opposed to the person who races to get the deodorizer out to spay just behind the customer...We sometimes forget that we have the same type of feet as many others and we all basically bathe each night all the same....We are no different than they.....If we were not meant to be , God would have fashioned us all to have different kinds of feet in the stead of them basically resembling each others.

Many cultures see the feet as important as they allow a body to walk in the light of the lamp, they allow us to venture out of the darkness. In some cultures it is important to wash or shake the dust from ones feet before entering "the house". This prevents any unclean things from the world being carried in on our souls/soles. Even today this is still carried on in some way, though not many will appreciate it. We place doormats outside our house, we have some sort of mat inside too some times. Often we change our shoes into indoor ones/slippers. This practice can be seen in the far east and in various religious practices regarding the temple and gods house.

Who, what, where, when and why is our walk of life, and who we by free will or do choose to represent, the sacred feet that walk on holy ground, and the body of representation comes to life by intentions and acts, notions in motion, I love the notion, we are to exceed the pharisees and scribes, yes the feet, LOL, some would call it a fetish (feetish), I feel otherwise, it is not a superstition, to walk with notions as good as the master.

The Christ, the Sons of God, The Lamp, The Fire, The Cloud, A Pillar of Fire by Day and a Pillar of Smoke at Night... These are all representations of the Body of Christ: US the Chosen and Elect of God the Father who carry His Spirit of whom He is so jealous. We are a Fire by Day, as all parts are joined together in unity of Spirit (the Church, the Bronze, the place of Judgment, Jesus is the Day), and we are a Cloud by Night, as the parts are dispersed throughout the World ("never have we had so great a Cloud of witnesses"). We are the Lamp, the Word made flesh, the Day Star, the Cloud, the Footstool, because the Father's Spirit dwells in US. "Jesus is come in the flesh"...We are His flesh. Amen. He that does not believe Jesus is come in the flesh is deceived of the antichrist. Stop waiting for Jesus to come. He is already here in His flesh: His people. Life goes on...Shalom.
