When I see a person stating why you just stated, they are talking about a promise given to Abraham, and without knowledge of the relationship to Abraham Christians have. They are assuming there is a relation to Abraham Jews have without the one we have with Abraham concerned in Christ, which is a faulty understanding. Christians are not obliged to support Israel, but a person who is a Christian and does support Israel is telling me their bias is aligned with God, which it should be. Also, it MIGHT tell me that they have a more accurate understanding of eschatology in that way. EDIT: Any Christian who understands eschatological prophecy in the Bible is going to know that it's for the sake of Israel that Jesus returns to save them. There's just no getting around that. The land of Israel was given to the Israelites during the time of Moses. What the Israelites did to the land and if it was right only God knows. John 11:51 He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation, 52 and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one. And since the Ancient Israelites are no longer there but are scattered by God into the rest of humanity then there are only these new modern Israelis that have origins from Russia Europe and other parts of the world. So are we still obliged to bless the land of Israel? I don't think so because the land has now new land lords of Israel that question every tourist and tell them what places that they can sight see, and the worst thing is that many Palestinians die at the hands of Israelis everyday. Should we support inhumane acts of violence in Israel? Is being cruel to Palestinians pleasing to God? What has happened to this promised land is a shame.

The Biblical Israel and the Modern state are the same in name only. We are not "obliged" support anyone. My personal view that both Palestine and Israel have an equal right to exist, Israel is wrong to build on Palestinian land and to effectively siege the Gaza strip and West Bank. I would rather see Jersulaem in a independent city state outside of Palestine and Israel run by representatives of each of the faiths with a claim to it. But that will never happen.
