" opposing and complimentary forces in taoism they represent a balance, like man and woman, black and white, good and evil etc." The only thing he forgot is that if you look at YinYang there is some black in the white and some white in the black.This of course symbolizes that there are no absolutes that we contain allof the elements within us.And we each balance them as best we can

it is a taoist (eastern religion) idea. The ying and yang reprents two seprate oppitise things (like man and woman, light and dark, heaven and hell, good and evil, etc.) that seprate are nothing are incomplete but if together are every and complete and blance act if you will.

yin-yang is in Chinese philosophy, the two cosmic forces of creative energy yin being feminine/negative and yang being masciline/positive, from which everything originates and depends on the interaction of the opposite and complimentary principles.
